The Ralph Wilson Foundation continued its generosity handing out one of the largest education gifts to date to Say Yes Buffalo. Mary Wilson delivered $2-million in funding to Say Yes for its college scholarship program. WBFO's Focus on Education reporter Eileen Buckley says the leader of the city school district is hoping to apply for a future Foundation grant.
Buffalo Schools Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash had a chance to briefly speak to Mary Wilson. He's expecting to meet with her in the near future to discussion a grant application.
“I was just making some inroads on that and she said she’s welcomed to come sit with her – go to breakfast, have some coffee and talk about next steps there, so that will be soon,” explained Cash.
Wilson tells WBFO News it will be an 'interesting year' for the foundation with a new president - as they begin gathering grant requests
“He’ll be hiring a staff. We have a website and people will be writing grants this year and it will be our first years of excepting grants, so it is going to be an exciting year,” stated Wilson.
A few weeks ago the Foundation put a call out for grant applications.
