Some area high school students will participate in an education program that promotes leadership. The Captains Leadership Seminar was created by the head of the Buffalo FBI office. WBFO's Focus on Education Reporter Eileen Buckley talked with Buffalo's FBI Special Agent in Charge Brian Boetig.

"In leadership, many people get thrust into these position and they don't necessary get training," said Boetig.

The Buffalo Division of the FBI are partnering with the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA), the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), and Erie Community College (ECC), to deliver the inaugural Captains Leadership Seminar (CLS).

"We want to help these students, not only lead their teams and their communities -- but we also want to make sure they carry on these leadership skills throughout their college career and their professional life, so it's really setting them up for success," noted Boetig.

The program is designed to develop leadership of current high school student athletes.

Student athletes selected from high schools located throughout Western New York. They will be joined by  their respective coaches and/or athletic director, are invited to this event.

The CLS is scheduled for Friday, May 22  from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Erie County Community College South Campus, 4041 Southwestern Boulevard, Orchard Park.
