Press Pass: Tight timetable for superintendent search

The Buffalo School Board is working on a very quick turnaround in collecting applications for a new superintendent. The filing deadline is June 5th.  In this week's Press Pass conversation WBFO'S Eileen Buckley and Buffalo News Education Reporter Tiffany Lankes discuss the job posting and the reelection of Buffalo Teacher President Federation Phil Rumore.

"Figure out who are these people who might be a good fit for Buffalo," said Lankes.  "There are, though some challenges, the timing is not good for them because it is somewhat out of sink with when most school districts are conducting searchers, so people who might have been on the market a couple of months ago may have already accepted other offers."

Lankes notes it is a quick turnaround to conduct the application process, but noted "this may not work."

Despite some discontent with a lack of a new teachers contract in the last ten years, long-time BFT President Phil Rumore was elected over the weekend.  He had opposition from two opponents, but just a little more than 1,300 city school teachers voted out of the 3,400.

Rumore captured 707-votes. Opponents Patrick Foster received 344 and Marc Bruno had 299-votes.
