Questions surround future of interim schools leader

The future of interim Buffalo Schools Superintendent Don Ogilvie came into question at last Friday's contentious school board meeting. WBFO'S Focus on Education reporter Eileen Buckley has more.

"You brought him in here to do a job. He's doing his job and now you want to kick him out by April 1st. Wasn't that the idea?  Get him out of here by April the first before he could do any damage because he's not your boy. He's his own man," said Sharon Belton Cottman, Buffalo School Board Member.

"I don't know where that came from, but I will share with you what I shared with our administrators earlier in the week. The only significance to April 1st is that it is my 48th wedding anniversary," stated Ogilvie when reporters question the reference to that date.

An official search for a new schools superintendent has not occurred.  Ogilvie's contract is for up to two-years.

WBFO News asked Ogilvie if he believes the board's majority would push for a vote to oust him.

"I don't think so. I think they recognize that we need to contend with each other. We need to support each other. We need to not stop anybody's best ideas," said Ogilvie.

But whether Ogilvie will be here into the next school year remains unclear.
