One of the 'winningest' college football coaches in the nation is coming to the University at Buffalo. Monday UB announced it has hired Wisconsin-Whitewater head football coach of the Bulls. Lance Leipold has won five-national championships. Leipold appeared at a news conference at UB's Alumni Arena at the north Campus in Amherst Monday.
"This is unbelievable opportunity and it's ready to take off," said Leipold.
Leipold said it was an earlier conversation with former UB coach Turner Gill that convince the time was right to come to Buffalo.
"It's not one coach, it's not one player, it takes everyone," said Leipold. "And I'm glad to be part of this team."

Leipold has compiled a 106 and 6 record at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The University is working to draw more national attention to its football program. But WBFO News asked University President Satish Tripathi for a comment on the hiring of Leipold and he did not want to offer a comment. "Talk to Danny please," said Tripathi, referring to the athletic director Danny White.
Leipold heads back to Wisconsin as he complete his teams championship quarter final game. He told reporters as he returns to his current school he will need to quote look in them in the eye and explain the UB offer happened 'very quickly.'
