Canisius High offers little information

Controversy continues to mount at Canisius High School in Buffalo, but there are few answers.  On Monday the school confirmed Dean of Students Beck O'Connor was out. It was also revealed that senior and star football player Brad Zaffram was suspended from post-season football.  WBFO's Focus on Education reporter Eileen Buckley spoke with Tom Lucia, who serves as the school's manager of Public Relations and Social Media.

Canisius released little information saying it is not allow to discuss the situation based on privacy.

"We're unable to talk about the student, specifics as to why he was suspended because of student privacy concerns.  We're also unable to discuss a matter of employment -- why an employee is no longer here. It's hard for us and it's hard for our students," state Lucia in a WBFO News interview.

The school only would say disciplinary action was taken against Zaffram.

Wedneday about 40-Canisius High School students staged a march to the school chanting the name of the "Beck" calling for the return of the former Dean of Students.

WBFO asked if the school has legal counsel on the matter. "We're starting to work with legal counsel, only because of the possibility of legal actions from other groups against the school" said Lucia.
