Council of Great Schools: “Testing in American Schools"

The Council of Great City Schools recently held a discussion on “Testing in American Schools” at its 58th Annual Fall Conference. It was hosted this year by Milwaukee Public Schools in Milwaukee and featured a special Town Hall discussion. The theme for the conference was “Fresh Water, Fresh Thinking in Urban Education.”

The Town Hall featured National Public Radio Education Correspondent Claudio Sanchez, who moderated the event. Panelists included: Valeria Silva, superintendent of the St. Paul (MN) Public Schools; Jumoke Hinton Hodge, board member of the Oakland (CA) Unified School District, and chair of the Council of the Great City Schools; Marc Tucker, president and CEO of the National Center on Education and the Economy; Chris Minnick, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers; and Jaxs Goldsmith, senior class president at Riverside University High School, Milwaukee.
