Buffalo school board to hold special meeting

WBFO News photo by Eileen Buckley

The Buffalo Board of Education is  meeting in special session Wednesday afternoon. School board president James Sampson called for the meeting to discuss several topics, including a possible vote on a new chief academic officer.

Interim Schools Superintendent Donald Ogilvie is expected to recommend the board accept the appointment of Linda Cimusz. She has served as a former Williamsville school administer.

The position was left vacant when the district removed Yamilette Williams from the job for failure to have proper certification. She was appointed to the post by former Superintendent Pamela Brown.

The recommendation to hire Cimusz would be Ogilvie’s first official ask to the board since his appointment as interim leader.

Cimusz previously worked in the Syracuse School District and in Texas before coming to WIlliamsville.  Cimusz retired from Williamsville in 2011.  She currently serves as director of Academics  at Sacred Heart Academy in Amherst.

The Board is also expected to discuss tenure for administrators, the District’s Comprehensive Improvement Plan, advice from legal counsel and personnel issues.
