Daemen College in Amherst has made the Chronicle for Higher Education's "Honor Roll" as one of the Top Ten small four-year institutions to work for in the United States. "We get rated on 12 categories. Of the 12, only four rated nine or above, and Daemen is one of those four. So we can really say we're in the top four in the nation colleges to work for," College President Gary Olson said Monday.
Olson says the distinguished recognition is a tribute to Daemen's devoted faculty and staff. He says the current climate is not ideal for workers in higher education.
"Budgets have been shrinking for at least a decade and, quite frankly, in a lot of places, it's kind of a hostile workplace simply because there's so little money to go around and people are doing a lot more for less," Olson said.
The annual report on the The Academic Workplace is based on a survey of 43,000 employees at 278 colleges and universities across the U.S.
