Lawyers for Pinnacle Charter School will be back in court next week to try and save the school. State Supreme Court Justice John Michalek declined to rule on a request filed today for a temporary restraining order and instead scheduled oral arguments for next Tuesday, September 3. Classes were scheduled to begin the following day.
In the meantime, members of Pinnacle’s Board of Trustees and administration will continue meeting with representatives of the State Education Department.
Pinnacle was notified late last Friday of the state's intention to close the school, which has more than 550 students enrolled for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The legal battle to keep the school open began last year when the State Board of Regents voted not to renew Pinnacle's charter because of low test scores.
