Three groups of Clarence residents have put aside their differences in an effort to get a school budget approved.
The District is holding a re-vote Tuesday and members of the school and taxpayer groups are asking the community to vote 'yes.'
In May, Clarence voters overwhelmingly rejected a budget with a proposed 9.8% school tax increase. The revised plan cuts more than $2.4 million in spending and increase taxes nearly 3.8 percent.
The new budget eliminates more than two dozen teaching, administrative, and support positions. Class sizes will increase and Clarence will lose its modified sports programs and summer school.
Matt Stock with the group 'Keep Clarence Schools Great' says there isn't enough time before Tuesday's re-vote to settle differences built up over years.
"We see this budget vote as a bridge. A 'yes' vote will minimize the impact on our children in the short-term while we roll up our sleeves and get to work on getting programs reinstated and increasing the transparency and accountability in our schools and in our community," Stock says.
Drew Cerza says the coalition is going to stay together after the re-vote.
"We are going to get involved, going to Albany and working with the school district to get some reform," Cerza says.
