UB pharmacy school moves to South Campus

Nearly 30 years after moving to Amherst, the University at Buffalo's School of Pharmacy has returned to the South Campus in Buffalo.

UB alumnus and donor Dr. John Kapoor,  state and local leaders, and hundreds of guests celebrated the grand opening of John and Editha Kapoor Hall Friday.

Kapoor said what impressed him the most about working with the School of Pharmacy was the dedication of the faculty.

"It wasn't the money that I would give, but it was what they could do with it. They would take a dollar and multiply it by ten dollars," said Kapoor.

Now a successful businessman, Kapoor says he is indebted to UB after the university gave him a scholarship to get a higher education coming from India.

"It was that [scholarship] that created my career," he said.

Taxpayers provided $46 million toward the $62 million state-of-the-art project.   Lt. Governor Robert Duffy says the investment fulfills part of the UB 2020 plan to revitalize the South Campus and the surrounding area.
