Cheektowaga Police have issued an update on their investigation into a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash Saturday night.

Investigators said analysis of debris found at the scene along Clinton Street under the New York State Thruway overpass near Harlem Road determined that the suspect vehicle is likely a Jeep Patriot, from a model year of 2007 to 2017.

A broken side-view mirror and glass fragments were recovered, but initial identification was complicated because the mirror was not factory installed.

The color of the vehicle is unknown and there is believed to be vehicle damage to the front and driver side of the vehicle.

The Erie County Medical Examiner’s office is still currently working to identify the victim and the Cheektowaga Police Accident Investigation Unit is continuing their probe.

Anyone with information who can assist in the investigation is urged to call the Cheektowaga Police Accident Investigation unit at (716) 686-3956 or text anonymously to TIP411 (847411) and type CPDNY and then your message.
