A City of Olean firefighter has been charged with the theft of more than $116,000 from his department.
New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Cattaraugus County District Attorney Lori Pettit Rieman and the New York State Police Wednesday announced a combined investigation has resulted in the arrest of Terry Gaylor Jr., 41.
Gaylor is charged with second degree grand larceny, two counts of second degree forgery and official misconduct.
Gaylor is a former trustee of the Olean Fire Department. He is accused of paying personal credit card bills directly from the fire department’s account, including money for his private business and writing unauthorized checks to himself, some with forged signatures.
Gaylor is due back in Cattaraugus County court on Feb. 14.
