Multiple fights broke out at the Walden Galleria during the gathering of a youth crowd Sunday evening.
Cheektowaga Police said two juveniles were arrested in separate incidents, many others were ejected from the mall, while others were held by police until picked up by a parent or guardian — this despite Buffalo Peacemakers and 12 town police officers present at the gathering.
The Galleria has a Parental Escort Policy, requiring those under age 18 to be accompanied by an adult over 21 on Friday and Saturday nights from 4 p.m. until close, but that policy was not in effect Sunday night.
No injuries were reported and the mall closed as scheduled at 7 p.m. But in a later incident, a male employee at a mall restaurant was arrested after another employee noticed a gun in his waistband and called police.
Police said a loaded 9 millimeter pistol was found. Javier Romero, 29, was arrested and charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon.
