The Buffalo man who was convicted of rioting in connection with a violent protest at Buffalo City Hall has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.
Prosecutors said Courtland Renford, 22, was recorded on surveillance video rioting and looting a convenience store on Elmwood Avenue at Summer Street in Buffalo just after 10 p.m on May 30, 2020.
Over an hour later, Renford joined a protest and looting at City Hall, and threw a flaming laundry basket through a broken window. That resulted in a fire that damaged or destroyed items inside City Hall that Buffalo firefighters had to extinguish.
