A school bus driver transporting nine Gowanda Central students to Lakeshore BOCES Tuesday morning faces multiple charges following a traffic stop.
Marianne Clayton, 63, of Silver Creek was pulled over by Seneca Nation marshals after a report that the bus was swerving into oncoming traffic on Route 438 on Seneca territory. Erie County Sheriff's Deputies were called to assist.
They administered field sobriety tests, which authorities said Clayton failed. They said further testing at the Sheriff substation in North Collins discovered her ability allegedly impaired by drugs.
Charges filed against her include three felony counts of aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle, a misdemeanor count of DWI-Drugs and seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Another bus was sent to finish transporting the students. Clayton was released into the custody of a third party.
