The Erie County District Attorney's Office has announced the arraignment of a 25-year-old Buffalo woman in connection with a bicyclist hit during a protest at Niagara Square.
The incident occurred Sept. 23. Joanna Gollnau is accused of recklessly driving a pickup truck during an evening protest in front of Buffalo City Hall and striking bicyclist Karen Huffman, 59. Huffman, a legal observer and Slow Roll Buffalo board member, was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken shoulder.
Gollnau was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on a felony count of first degree reckless endangerment, as well as a misdemeanor count of reckless driving. Her next court date is scheduled for Jan. 4 and has been released on her own recognizance.
If convicted on all charges, Gollnau faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
