Broadway's Groove Lounge closed again after weekend shooting

The Groove Lounge

Buffalo Police have closed a city bar after a weekend shooting incident.

The Groove Lounge on Broadway was the site of the shooting just after midnight Saturday. A 29-year-old man was critically wounded and a 32-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in the parking lot.

Officers said they encountered hundreds of patrons that were extremely disorderly when they arrived and that the bar's security were not able to control the crowd. Police also said they were not cooperative with their investigation.

A sign on the door of the Groove Lounge says it will remain closed as long as necessary by order of Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood. Previous shootings at the bar led to closures in 2018 and 2019.
