Jamestown man injured in hit-and-run

A Jamestown man suffered serious but non-life-threatening leg injuries when he was struck by a car while crossing an intersection around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim, 61, was knocked to the ground at Pine and East Sixth streets by a dark-colored sedan and was taken to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment. Police said they believe the vehicle was a Chevrolet Impala and it may have front-end damage.

Traffic cameras indicate the vehicle was turning left onto Pine Street southbound when the collision occurred, then proceeded east on East Fifth Street, to East Second Street, then south on Winsor Street.

Anyone with information on the incident or the whereabouts of the vehicle should contact Jamestown Police at 483-7537 or via the Anonymous Tips Line at 483-TIPS (8477) or the Tips 411 App. All tips are kept confidential.
