NY AG suing local debt collectors for illegal methods

New York State Attorney General Letitia James has announced legal action against several Buffalo-based debt collection operations and their owners and managers. They are accused of using illegal methods to collect debts.

The lawsuit, filed in partnership with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, alleges that the defendants used deceptive, harassing and improper methods to collect payments from consumers.

The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, names JPL Recovery Solutions LLC; Regency One Capital LLC; ROC Asset Solutions LLC, doing business as API Recovery Solutions; Check Security Associates LLC, doing business as Warner Location Services; and Orchard Payment Processing Systems, plus Keystone Recovery Group which ran as one common operation, for these businesses acquiring each other's debts.
