Buffalo woman pleads guilty to assaulting postal worker with her spit

A Buffalo woman has pleaded guilty in for assaulting a federal officer with her spit.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Melissa Daniels-Johnson, 39, drove her vehicle the wrong way into the exit driveway at the Cheektowaga branch post office on the evening of March 19. When a letter carrier collecting mail from mailboxes in the parking lot told her of her error, she began shouting profanities at him and threatened to cough on him to give him the coronavirus.

After an encounter with a manager, Daniels-Johnson then told the letter carrier that her husband would beat him up. She then spit on the man's leg.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 30. If convicted, Daniels-Johnson faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
