Orchard Park man sentenced to six months in jail for crash fatality

An Orchard Park man was sentenced Tuesday in State Supreme Court to six months in jail, followed by five years of probation, after pleading guilty in February to one count of second degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony.

Daniel Witczak, 34, was driving a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard in West Seneca in the early morning hours on Sept. 15, 2019 while under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle crashed and overturned, and was found about 100 feet from the roadway.

Witczak, his wife, and his brother were taken to Erie County Medical Center with serious injuries and are still recovering. His brother's girlfriend, Corrine Bennett, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witczak was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and his driver's license was revoked for one year.
