Stephen Belongia speaks at his alma mater in April 2018.

The Buffalo Field Office of the FBI has a new special agent in charge.

He is Stephen Belongia, who is being transferred here from his post as section chief of Cyber Readiness at FBI headquarters in Washington, DC.

Belongia is a 23-year veteran of the bureau. He began his career in Phoenix as an investigator of criminal and counterterrorism issues, advancing to a supervisor of a white-collar crime unit.

From 2011 to 2017 he was assigned to Iraq and Kenya. Belongia also served as assistant special agent in charge in Tampa from 2017 until last year.

Mark Wozniak, WBFO's local All Things Considered host, has been at WBFO since mid-1978.
