Tonawanda cop and his wife arraigned for falsifying accident report

A Town of Tonawanda police officer and his wife have been arraigned in Erie County Court on charges related to a falsified accident report in January.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said an indictment charges Howard Scholl, 37, with a felony count of falsifying business records and a misdemeanor count of insurance fraud. Aimee Scholl, 35, was indicted for falsifying business records.

Howard Scholl is alleged to have been driving an SUV on Englewood Avenue in the town just before midnight on Jan. 19, with his wife in the passenger seat, when they collided with another vehicle.

Responding police officers reported the couple said Aimee Scholl had been driving, in order to conceal that her husband had been drinking, and the couple reported she had been driving in an insurance claim. Howard Scholl was off-duty at the time.

A pre-trial conference for both defendants is scheduled for August 12th.
