Suspect suffers head injury during Buffalo Police call

EZ Wash Laundry

Buffalo Police are investigating an overnight incident at a Delaware Avenue laundromat that injured a suspect after being tackled by an officer.

Police say they responded to a call for trespassing at the facility, in the 2400 block of Delaware at Hertel Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m. The suspect, identified as John Barker, 31, was removed from the building.

Capt. Jeff Rinaldo said Barker then picked up a board from construction debris and reentered the building, allegedly threatening a laundromat employee. An officer followed him inside and tackled him.

Barker suffered a head injury and was taken to the intensive care unit at Erie County Medical Center.

He has been charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and obstruction of governmental administration.
