A Buffalo woman has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
Kristy Brucz, 34, was accused of using access she had to her Williamsville physician employer's prescription pads and electronic prescribing token to submit 166 fraudulent prescriptions to various area pharmacies.
The fraud took place between 2015 and March of 2018, when the scheme was discovered, and the drugs were diverted for personal use. The controlled substances included hydrocodone and oxycodone.
Brucz faces a maximum of four years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced on Aug. 19.
