Manhunt recovers Buffalo man who faked pipe bombs at police station

The U.S. Marshals Service has announced the arrest of a convicted felon who escaped from a halfway house in Rochester.

The U.S. Marshals Service said James Timpanaro, 55, pleaded guilty last summer to placing fake pipe bombs at the South District Buffalo Police station, and outside of a post office on South Park Avenue in October of 2018.

He was taken into custody Thursday morning at a motel in Lakeville in Livingston County after tips from the public helped track him down.

Timpanaro will be arraigned on a Violation of Supervised Release charge at U.S. District Court in Rochester Friday morning.
