Former Buffalo teacher indicted for child porn

A former Buffalo teacher was arraigned Tuesday on a three-count federal grand jury indictment, including two counts of producing child pornography and one count of possession of child porn.

Peter Hingston, 59,  of Amherst is a former technology teacher at City Honors. The U.S. Attorney's Office says he is alleged to have engaged in sexually explicit activity with two minor victims in the classroom, and videotaping the encounters using a GoPro digital camera.

In June of last year, the FBI learned of a Buffalo Police investigation sparked by multiple student complaints. Prosecutors said that report alleged the teacher was observed using a camera to photograph or record female students in a sexually inappropriate way.

Hingston continues to be detained. If convicted, he could face up to 70 years in prison.
