Pendleton highway superintendent arrested for misuse of town resources

Town of Pendleton

The Town of Pendleton's highway superintendent has been arrested for misusing town equipment, materials and employees for his personal use.

Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour said Jeffrey Stowell, 59, has been charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony; three counts of petit larceny, class A misdemeanors; and one count of official misconduct, a class A misdemeanor.

Stowell is alleged to have misused town equipment and materials for work on his home, and town equipment, materials and employees to perform the work at his home and on his personal vehicles.

Voutour said Town of Pendleton officials cooperated with law enforcement during this investigation, which is continuing.

Stowell was arraigned in Lockport Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear back in court Jan. 14.
