A Lackawanna man was sent to prison for six months and sentenced to 10 years of sex offender probation Tuesday for a sexual act with a 14-year-old at an Orchard Park salon.
Stephen Savaglio, 68, pleaded guilty May 3 to felony criminal sexual act in the second degree, the highest of the charges against him.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office said Savaglio committed the crime with the teen in the basement of the hairdressing parlor while the victim's parent was worked on. DA John Flynn said he was being very vague on details to protect the victim and the family.
In court, Savaglio said he was embarrassed and ashamed by what he did. However, Flynn blasted him in a news conference after the sentencing.
"I could really care less how sorry he is," he said. "I'm more concerned about how embarrassed the 14-year-old is. I'm more concerned about how the 14-year-old feels, quite frankly. Whatever his feelings are of embarassment or sorrowness is totally irrelevant to me."
State Supreme Court Justice Paul Wojtaszek also issued an order of protection to ensure Savoglio does not go near the victim or the victim's family.
After his court proceedings, Savaglio was immediately taken into custody. He will serve his sentence in the County Jail in Alden, in a unit set aside for sex offenders.
