Woman charged with vehicular assault, DWI after 9-year-old struck on sidewalk

An East Aurora woman has been charged with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated after police say she struck a 9-year-old girl who was riding her scooter. The incident happened on East Main Street in the village early Sunday evening. Police say Erin Kuntz, 30, left the roadway, struck a parked vehicle, then struck the child, who was on the sidewalk. The girl was transported, by ambulance, to Oishei Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

Kuntz was also charged with possession of marijuana, refusing to take a breath test, driving a motor vehicle on the sidewalk and failure to use designated lane. She was arraigned in town court Monday morning and released on her own recognizance.
