Albion Central Schools under increased police presence

Albion Central Schools

Police will have an increased presence throughout the Albion Central School District Monday morning.

This comes after Albion Police and the FBI uncovered a Facebook account that threatened violence against an unspecified school.

Authorities say the threat proved unfounded, but they are still warning Facebook users to monitor their accounts and change their passwords regularly to help prevent takeovers.

The account in question got hacked by someone in Croatia. The FBI believes the account was taken over by a malware attack on a phone, similar to other events that have occurred throughout the United States.

Police are working with Facebook to have the account taken down, but they warn once an account is hacked, it is very difficult to regain control.
