Ohio kidnapping suspect found in Cheektowaga, awaits extradition

An Ohio man wanted for kidnapping five children and their mother has been arrested in Cheektowaga.

New York State Police say they were responding to a report to look out for a white Chrysler minivan with Ohio plates traveling eastbound on the I-90 from Cleveland. A vehicle matching the description and plate number was stopped and the male driver was detained.

They say William Angel, 27, was later found to be a fugitive from justice - an out-of-state crime - and was transported to the Erie County Holding Center to await extradition back to Ohio. His passengers included five children ranging from six months to seven years old and their mother.

The family members were transported to State Police headquarters in Buffalo until a relative traveled from Ohio to pick them up. The mother also received medical care for injuries State Police say were sustained in the kidnapping.

Angel was wanted by Cleveland Police for six counts of kidnapping, two counts of felony assault and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
