A former Erie County Sheriff's deputy has been sentenced in Erie County Court to five years in prison, plus three years of post-release supervision, for his role in assaulting the mother of his youngest child.
Dennis McAndrew, 40, of Buffalo pleaded guilty to a count of second degree assault this past August, in connection with the assault of the woman over two days in December 2017.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office says the woman was unresponsive when police officers arrived at the home. She spent more than a week at Erie County Medical Center being treated for multiple injuries to her face and body.
At the time of his plea in August, a temporary no contact order was issued forbidding McAndrew from contacting the woman. He wrote several letters to the woman, violating that order.
A final order of protection prohibiting any contact with the woman until 2031 was issued at Tuesday's sentencing.
