East Aurora priest placed on administrative leave for alleged sexual advance

Christ the King Seminary

Another priest in the Buffalo Catholic Diocese has been put on leave. This time it involves an alleged sexual advance made on an adult.

The Diocese says it has received a complaint against Fr. Joseph Gatto, President-Rector of Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora.

Gatto has been President since 2014 and a faculty member at Christ the King since 1990. He also has been Priest Moderator at St. John the Baptist parish in Alden since last year.

Bishop Richard Malone has placed Gatto on administrative leave, as is standard as the investigation continues.

Diocese Spokeswoman Christina Connell says anyone with specific information about clerical sexual abuse to share should contact their Victim Assistance Coordinator Jackie Joy at 895-3010.
