A 28-year-old man and his 13-year-old brother were stabbed by an intruder in their home Monday afternoon on West Middlebury Road in the Wyoming County town of Middlebury.

After calling 911 shortly after, authorities say the man was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and the teen was taken by ambulance to Strong. Both had serious and profusely bleeding cuts and underwent surgery.

About 90 minutes later, authorities identified a suspect as Michael Finch. They say he emerged from woods near the house and was taken into custody. He also had cuts plus an arm injury.

Finch was treated at the Wyoming County Community Hospital and has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, attempted robbery and assault, plus single counts of burglary and criminal possessioin of a weapon.

Finch, who has been convicted of multiple felonies in the past, was arraigned in Middlebury Town Court and is being held without bail at the Wyoming County jail.
