Royalton man charged in fatal overdose of his sister

Niagara County Sheriff's Office
Daniel Wells has been charged in the overdose death of his sister.

A Niagara County man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide in the fatal drug overdose of his sister. Sheriff James Voutour says Daniel Wells, 29, of Royalton is accused of not seeking timely medical care for his sister, Christyna Wells, 34, of Oakfield, who overdosed in November 2017.

Authorities allege Daniel Wells drove his sister from Niagara Falls, where she overdosed, to the 9400 block of Ridge Road in Royalton, before calling for medical assistance.  They say in that time, his sister could have been saved.

He was arraigned in Lockport Town Court Wednesday and released on his own recognizance.

However, Wells has a return date of June 14 in Royalton Town Court. He is currently being held without bail at the Niagara County Jail on unrelated charges.
