AMBER Alert issued for missing toddler

Wayne County Sheriff's Office

An AMBER Alert has been issued for Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, a toddler that was missing, along with his mother, since last week.

The official description for Owen is a Hispanic male, 14 months old with short, brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 2 feet and weighs about 30 pounds. Police say he is known to need asthma medication.

The body of Owen's mother, 18-year-old Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, was found Thursday in the woods behind a Sodus farm in Wayne County. Hildago-Calderon was from Guatemala and had been employed as a migrant worker.

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts says the girl's boyfriend, Alberto Reyes, admitted to removing Hildago-Calderon’s body from a home they shared and burying it between two logs. He has not been charged with anything beyond tampering with evidence at this point, but the investigation is continuing.

If you have any knowledge of Owen's whereabouts, you are asked to call the Wayne County Sheriffs Office at 315-946-9711, (866) NYS-AMBER (866-697-2623) or 911.
