Police in Jamestown are investigating the apparent assault of a three-year-old girl by her caregiver Tuesday morning.
Joshua Berg, 28, has been charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the girl's head injury.
Police were called to 196 Clyde Avenue to find the girl unresponsive. She was transported to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo for emergency surgery for a reported head injury.
Authorities believe the girl was struck in the head by her caregiver. They say the home also had a strong smell of marijuana. Further charges are expected against Berg.
