Buffalo man receives 18 years for raping child

A Buffalo man will be spending the next 18 years in prison for raping a girl under age 13.

Robert Proctor, 29, also was sentenced to 10 years of post-release supervision and registration as a sex offender.

He pleaded guilty to first-degree rape in February in connection with the incident October 13, 2017. The child reported the encounter immediately and authorities say the defendant's DNA was found on her body.

State Supreme Court Justice Christopher Burns denied a request by Proctor in court Wednesday to withdraw his plea. Proctor said he was coerced into a plea deal and that he was innocent.
