A Snyder woman convicted of stealing nearly $30,000 from Oracle Charter School is going to jail.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office says Krista Schultz, 47, has been sentenced to one year in jail for violating the terms of her probation.
Schultz was originally convicted of grand larceny in the third degree in October 2015 for misappropriating funds while serving as Oracle's chief financial officer. In a payroll scheme March 2013-October 2013, Schultz overpaid herself $27,567.
The theft was discovered after the school retained a local accounting firm to assist with its annual audit.
She could have received up to 7 years in prison, but was sentenced to five years of probation and required to make monthly payments to the school as restitution.
However, the DA says Schultz violated the terms of her probation by failing to make those payments. Over $21,000 is still owed the school.
