Buffalo man arrested in domestic shooting

WBFO News File

A Buffalo man wanted in connection with a domestic-related shooting has been apprehended by Buffalo Police.

Just before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Northwest District officers responded to a shooting on Lawn Avenue. A 22-year-old Buffalo man was hit by gunfire and transported to Kenmore Mercy Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

A short time later, police arrested 28-year-old Dave Thornton of Buffalo and charged him with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Police say the suspected shooter is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s current girlfriend.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas moved to Western New York at the age of 14. A graduate of Buffalo State College, he majored in Communications Studies and was part of the sports staff for WBNY. When not following his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats and Boston Red Sox, Thomas enjoys coaching youth basketball, reading Tolkien novels and seeing live music.
