Jamestown woman set on fire in critical condition, suspect charged

Jamestown Police

Authorities say a woman is in critical condition after being set on fire by a man.

Jamestown Police say officers responded late Tuesday night to a report of a domestic dispute on Thayer Street. When police arrived on the scene, they found a 27-year-old woman suffering burns to her face, head and torso.

Authorities say Luis Castro-Mojico, 37, had doused the woman with a flammable substance and set her on fire. She was taken to WCA Hospital and then airlifted to ECMC, where police say she is listed in critical condition.

Police have not released details on the relationship between the victim and the suspect, who is jailed on assault charges. However, they say Castro-Mojico was wanted on three other domestic incident warrants and additional charges are expected.
