Police seeking witnesses in fatal shooting outside Allentown bar

Buffalo Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened outside an Allentown bar early Friday morning.

Gunshots rang out just before 1:30 a.m., shortly after a fight began outside Frizzy's Bar & Grill on Allen Street. The 37-year-old victim was rushed to Buffalo General Hospital and declared dead on arrival.

Buffalo Police Lieutenant Jeff Rinaldo says authorities want to talk to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have captured it on video.

"We know that this was not a random act of violence, that the participants were somewhat known to each other. Our Homicide squad has been out all morning canvassing all the different establishments on Allen Street obtaining video footage, as well as from the Buffalo SafeCam program," Rinaldo told reporters Friday afternoon.

People with information are encouraged to call the police department's Homicide division at 851-4466. The victim's name has not yet been released.

Meanwhile, police are investigating another overnight shooting. It happened shortly after 1 a.m. on the 100 block of Walden Avenue outside a convenience store. Police say the 35-year-old victim is in critical condition, but have few other details about that case.
