One of the largest drug money seizures in Erie County history went down this Thursday morning.
The Erie County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit executed two search warrants: one in Buffalo's University District and another at an undisclosed Elmwood Avenue dwelling.
Authorities say 40 pounds of marijuana were found in the house at 675 LaSalle Street, while more than $700,000 in U.S. currency was recovered from the Elmwood Avenue location.
Deputies arrested Demetrius Johnson, 44, who authorities say is a three-time drug felon in New York State and a twice-convicted federal felon. Johnson is charged with one felony count of criminal possession of marijuana and was being held in the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in Buffalo City Court.
