Father on meth found guilty in son's death

Erie County District Attorney's Office

An Allegany County father who used drugs before a crash that killed his 4-year-old son has been found guilty of manslaughter.

A state Supreme Court jury also convicted 32-year-old Kevin McCabe of child endangerment Wednesday following a week-long trial.

The Erie County District Attorney's office says McCabe was impaired by methamphetamine when he crashed his pickup truck into the back of a tractor-trailer last October in the town of Sardinia. His son Tristan was killed and a niece suffered a broken leg.

McCabe, from the Allegany County town of Belfast, faces up to 15 years in jail when he is sentenced October 28.
