Buffalo Police have quickly arrested four teenagers in connection with an early-morning assault of a 64-year-old man behind the downtown Buffalo library.
The assault happened just after 5:40 a.m. Thursday near Broadway and Ellicott Street. The intersection was closed off, as well as the block of Ellicott between Broadway and Clinton, during the morning drive as homicide detectives investigated.
Detectives say NFTA Transit Police later apprehended four male teen suspects and turned them over to Buffalo Police. Arrested are a 17-year-old, a 16-year-old and two juveniles. The four are charged with assault in the first degree and gang assault.
The 64-year-old victim remains in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center. Police say city surveillance cameras on Main Street and other cameras played a key role in identifying the suspects.
