Warning issued after string of Grand Island break-ins

The Erie County Sheriff's Office is warning Grand Island residents to secure their homes and vehicles after a string of break-ins over the past 24 hours.

Tuesday, and through the overnight hours, deputies and detectives have been responding to multiple calls on Harvey Road, Grand Island Boulevard, First Street and Center Terrace for car larcenies and home burglaries.  The subjects took laptops, cash, credit cards, electronics and personal items.

In the car larcenies, the victims’ vehicles were unlocked and items were taken at various times throughout the day. One of the burglaries entailed the removal of a window air conditioning unit to gain access to the home.

The Sheriff’s Office believes a white pickup truck with a loud muffler and possibly multiple occupants may be associated with these incidents and is urging residents with information about the truck or the incidents to contact the office at 716-858-2903.
