Buffalo police investigating two Friday night shootings

Google Maps

There are still no arrests in the wake of two separate shootings in Buffalo late Friday and early Saturday.

A 28-year-old man was killed and two others wounded in one shooting at Fillmore Avenue and French Street. The deceased victim was identified Saturday as Dalen Smith of Buffalo.

Treated with non-life threatening injuries at Erie County Medical Center and released were 26-year-old Thomas Baylor and 29-year-old Alphonso Handley, both of Buffalo.

In the other shooting on Deerfield Avenue, a 23-year-old man was wounded.

Two groups advocating non-violence gathered Saturday afternoon near the site of the Fillmore Avenue shooting for a prayer vigil. Members say gang violence is an ongoing problem in that neighborhood. They're calling for better deployment of surveillance cameras.

Buffalo Police are asking anyone with information on either incident to call or text the confidential TIPCALL line at (716) 847-2255.
